The challenge

High-touch surfaces don't wait for the next cleaning round.

Door handles are touched repeatedly throughout the day. Routine cleaning remains essential, but it doesn't happen after every interaction.

Citrus STS is being developed to provide automated, targeted UV-C treatment of compatible door hardware between periods of use, as an additional surface-hygiene technology—not a replacement for established cleaning practices.

How it works

A smarter approach to targeted surfaces.

The proposed commercial workflow combines activity detection, programmed safety conditions, controlled UV-C treatment and operational information.

01
Detect

Sense activity associated with the door.

02
Verify

Check programmed conditions before a treatment cycle.

03
Treat

Direct UV-C toward the targeted handle surface.

04
Record

Capture activation information where supported by the pilot configuration.

05
Evaluate

Review usage, reliability and operational feedback during the trial.

Final pilot functionality and operating conditions are subject to prototype verification and safety validation.

A coordinated concept

Two Sided. One Door.

Commercial doors often have high-touch hardware on both sides. Citrus is developing a two-sided configuration to address the entry and exit surfaces.

EXTERIOR

Entry-side hardware

Targeted treatment for the handle used when entering.

INTERIOR

Exit-side hardware

Targeted treatment for the handle used when leaving.

Commercial technology

Designed for real-world evaluation.

01

Automated operation

Designed to initiate eligible treatment cycles without a manual button press.

02

Targeted UV-C

Focuses treatment on selected high-touch door hardware rather than an entire room.

03

Safety-first controls

Operating conditions and exposure safeguards are central to pilot validation.

04

Two-sided design

A planned configuration for both entry and exit hardware.

05

Operational logging

Planned timestamped activity information for evaluating prototype operation.

06

Pilot insights

Real-world feedback on installation, reliability and usage patterns.

Potential pilot settings

Built around the places people share.

We are exploring appropriate commercial settings for controlled pilot deployments, subject to site assessment, applicable requirements and device validation.

Limited commercial pilot · Coming soon

Become an early Citrus STS pilot location.

Citrus is preparing a limited commercial trial to evaluate prototype performance in real-world environments. We are interested in connecting with organizations that may be suitable pilot partners.

Areas of evaluation may include: installation feasibility, system reliability, treatment-cycle operation, activity data and facility feedback.

Responsible development

Grounded in testing. Focused on real-world performance.

UV-C is an established germicidal technology, but the effectiveness and safety of any specific system depend on its design, dose, conditions of use and validation. Citrus's commercial pilot is intended to gather operational evidence; claims of pathogen reduction or infection prevention require appropriate supporting testing.

Citrus STS™ is a commercial technology under development. Product configurations, features and availability may change.
